Getworks Co., Ltd. announced on the 23rd that it has introduced the world’s first liquid-cooled cooling tower manufactured by Supermicro (model number as of the end of December 2024) to the Yuzawa GX Data Center, a container-type data center operated jointly with GX Technology Co., Ltd. in Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture.
Getworks explained that running the currently announced next-generation GPUs and the servers that install them in existing air-cooled environments poses many challenges, such as the amount of heat that needs to be processed and the amount of electricity required for cooling, and while liquid cooling is essentially a must, it is no exaggeration to say that the expansion of Japan’s IT infrastructure depends on the compatibility of data centers, which are the server operating environment.
In addition to the world’s first introduction of Supermicro’s liquid-cooled cooling tower, the company is also combining Supermicro’s liquid-cooled GPU servers, server racks equipped with CDUs (Coolant Distribution Units), and Schneider Electric’s water-cooled localized cooling air conditioner “Uniflair Chilled Water In-Row Cooling,” and by fusing these liquid cooling solutions with its own unique water-cooling know-how cultivated over many years, the company aims to create one of Japan’s best water-cooled GPU server operating environments.
