三菱重工業(三菱重工業は、バーレーンの国営大手アルミニウム製錬会社であるアルミニウム・バーレーンBSC（Aluminum Bahrain BSC、Alba）が所有する第5発電所に、689MWのガスタービン・コンバインドサイクル（GTCC）発電設備を増設するプロジェクトを完工し、このほど商業運転を開始しました。当社は、この天然ガス焚きGTCC発電所を予定より1ヵ月前倒しで完工するとともに、長期サービス契約（LTSA）を締結し、高効率で信頼性の高いエネルギーを継続的に供給できるよう、発電所の安定操業をサポートしています。
この発電設備は、三菱重工業と中国の建設会社であるセプコ3世（SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Co.当社が納入したのは、最新鋭のM701JAC型ガスタービン1基と蒸気タービン1基からなるGTCC発電設備。
A ceremony to commemorate the completion of the facilities was held at the No. 5 Power Plant, and was attended by Alba’s Chairman, Khalid Al Rumaihi, CEO, Ali Al Baqali, and Head of the Power Division, Amin Sultan, as well as Executive Officer and Deputy Head of the Energy Domain, Takashi Higashizawa, representing MHI.

Commenting on the start of operations, Al Ba’s Chairman Khalid Al Rumaihi said: “The 4th Block of the 5th Power Plant does more than expand our installed power generation capacity; it underpins our vision for a sustainable future and is a powerful symbol of the combination of innovation and partnership. Thanks to the hard work of our company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and SEPCO III, this project was completed ahead of schedule, demonstrating that industrial growth and environmental care can coexist, ushering in a greener Bahrain.”
MHI’s Higashizawa added, “We are honored to celebrate the completion of this important project, which introduces our cutting-edge power generation technology. We are confident that the successful commercial operation of the M701JAC gas turbine with hydrogen co-firing capability in Block 4 of the 5th Power Plant will help Aruba achieve its energy goals and contribute to the decarbonization of industry. The completion of this facility not only demonstrates our strong collaboration, but also plays a vital role in advancing Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and building the country’s sustainable energy future.”
