ROHM, a semiconductor and electronic parts manufacturer, is moving to a zero trust network with a gateway product that utilizes Menlo Security’s web isolation technology. This was announced by Macnica, the company that handles this. Menlo Security’s gateway product performs web access in a virtual container on the cloud and has a sanitization function that sends only display information to the client, as well as a secure web gateway (SWG) function. This enables action control by category and visualization of web access. ROHM considered products based on the Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and decided to adopt Menlo Security.
The deployment to all domestic and overseas bases was completed in February 2024. ROHM highly evaluated Menlo Security’s convenient sanitization function, which strengthens security without relying on detection and enables the opening of the network. In addition to the sanitization function, the ability to realize zero trust with a wide portfolio including SWG, and the abundant implementation track record were also points that led to its adoption.
However, as delays in VPN connection reduced business efficiency, the company decided to switch to a zero trust network that combines convenience and security. Currently, more than 10,000 users are using Menlo Security. By automatically isolating email attachments and prohibiting uploads , the company is able to effectively prevent external intrusions and internal fraud. In addition, there have been no incidents of malware infection or damage caused by downloading malicious programs from attackers’ command and control servers.
