Panasonic Corporation Electric Works Company and Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture signed a collaboration agreement, to strengthen mutual collaboration and promote efforts to realize a “zero-carbon city” that aims to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions from the city by 2050.

Tagajo City declared itself a “Zero Carbon City” in February 2022, aiming to realize a decarbonized society. Specifically, the city is working toward achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Furthermore, to further promote global warming countermeasures while taking into account the city’s natural and social conditions, the city formulated the “Tagajo City Global Warming Countermeasures Action Plan (Area Policy Edition)” in February 2024. This plan encourages citizens, businesses, and city entities to work toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change according to their respective positions and roles. Going forward, the city plans to promote awareness and behavioral change toward decarbonization, while also actively promoting various projects tailored to the local situation.
