ispace Inc. is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, ispace technologies US, inc., signed a memorandum of understanding with Redwire Corporation a leader in space infrastructure for the next generation space economy, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 (US time) to jointly promote the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Commercial Lunar Payload Services (hereinafter CLPS) and commercial lunar exploration and science missions for other customers. The agreement was announced at the 40th Space Symposium, the largest space conference in the United States, which is being held in Colorado Springs, Colorado from Monday, April 7, 2025.
NASA’s CLPS is a $2.6 billion program through 2028 with an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract. NASA launched CLPS to support the creation of a lunar economy by commercially providing science and technology that will be useful for next-generation exploration. Redwire is one of 14 prime contractors with CLPS IDIQ contracts and will work with ispace-US to win CLPS contracts using ispace’s landers in the future. ispace-US’s next-generation lander, APEX1.0, will utilize lessons learned from the development and operation experience of the RESILIENCE lander used in ispace’s private lunar exploration program, HAKUTO-R, Mission 1 and Mission 2, to improve the payload capacity that can be transported. The APEX1.0 lander will provide a multi-purpose platform capable of transporting customer payloads to the lunar surface or lunar orbit.
