SORACOM、IoT デバイス製造のためのテストモードを発表

SORACOM Inc. will begin offering a new function, “Test Mode,” on its IoT platform SORACOM for the IoT SIM (global coverage) of its data communications service “SORACOM Air for Cellular” from June 24, 2025, which will improve the efficiency of communication testing in mass-produced IoT devices.

モビリティや車載機器、ヘルスケアやライフスタイル製品、産業用の各種メーターや端末など、グローバルに展開されるコネクテッドデバイスの数は増え続けています。こうしたデバイスの量産プロセスは、複数の企業が関わるサプライチェーンが前提です。メーカーが企画した後、自社工場や委託工場で製造し、最終検査でセルラー通信を含む通信チェックを行うのが一般的。検査後、各国の販売網を通じて流通し、ユーザーの手元に届いて使われ始めたときが、製品としての通信の始まりです。

The newly launched “Test Mode” supports the manufacturing of such connected devices, and adds a new SIM status, “Testing,” which allows communication checks to be performed free of charge during the manufacturing stage before commercial use begins. Once a certain period of time or a specified amount of data communication or SMS is reached, the status will automatically change to “Active,” “Suspended,” or another status. Communication costs will start to be incurred from the start of commercial use, making it easier to control when communication use begins.

この状態での通信量、残容量、残SMS数、残期間はSORACOMのユーザーコンソールやAPIからご確認いただけます。また、SIMは自社製造工場で製造するケースのほか、外部提携工場や外注先での製造も想定しており、製造工場がSIMを購入し、製造後にメーカーに移管するフローにも対応しています。

これにより、製造から出荷、商業利用までのプロセスがより効率的かつスムーズになり、特にグローバル展開を目的とした機器や、数万台、数万台、あるいは数百万台単位の大量生産を伴うプロジェクトに適しています。
