NetApp Japan held a press conference with George Kurian, CEO of NetApp, on January 30th. The press conference was held in conjunction with Kurian’s visit to Japan for the event “NetApp INSIGHT Xtra Tokyo 2025” held in Japan on January 28th.
At the beginning, Kurian said, “Japan is the largest and most important market for NetApp in Asia.” During his visit to Japan, he spoke with customers, telecommunications carriers, government officials, and others. As a message he spoke there, he once again explained NetApp’s vision of “intelligent data infrastructure” from 2023. The first thing he said was, “We are now in the age of data and intelligence.”

Kurian said that to use these tools effectively, well-managed, high-quality data is required. To do this, he said, an intelligent data infrastructure that can guarantee security, privacy, and governance is necessary. Next, he said that data infrastructure needs to be incorporated into ecosystems such as applications. “NetApp has been innovating in the field of intelligent infrastructure for the past few years,” Kurian said. And, “We are also focusing on the field of AI as a new application,” Kurian said. Specifically, he cited ultra-fast infrastructure that can withstand AI applications, functions such as data search and change management, and intelligent services for data such as metadata-based compliance management and masking of sensitive information.
“NetApp customers are also excited about the fact that they can integrate with the AI platform of the world’s largest hyperscaler to ensure the security and compliance of their enterprise data,” said Kurian.
