Cisco and NEC are teaming up to improve AI governance. This partnership helps Japanese companies and local governments use AI better. NEC will launch its AI governance service in Japan by fall 2025. This service combines NEC’s consulting know-how with Cisco’s AI security solution, “Cisco AI Defense.”
Cisco Systems G.K. and NEC Corporation are working together. They aim to promote the safe and responsible use of generative AI in Japan’s business and government areas.

Since 2023, NEC has worked with Robust Intelligence, Inc., now part of Cisco. NEC is assessing risks related to its generative AI, “cotomi.” Next, NEC and Cisco will strengthen AI governance frameworks. They promote the responsible use of AI solutions.
NEC has led in AI governance since it set up its “Policy on AI and Human Rights” in 2019. NEC has put in place AI governance rules and risk management guidelines. Th is helps reduce AI-related risks. NEC will use its expertise to provide consulting services. These services will help organizations set up strong AI governance frameworks.
