Quemix Inc., a subsidiary of TerraSky Inc. and a research and development company for quantum computer algorithms and software, is pleased to announce that it has raised a total of 550 million yen in Series B funding from SCSK Corporation, TerraSky Inc., YNF LLC, Mizuho Capital’s Mizuho Growth Support No. 5 Fund, and Mirai Sozo Capital’s Mirai Sozo Fund, who recently announced their capital and business alliance. The purpose of the round is to accelerate research and development for the social implementation of quantum computers, which are expected to be put to practical use in the future. This brings the total amount raised to 850 million yen.

Quantum computers, the next generation of high-performance computers, are an advanced technology that is expected to bring about breakthroughs in “optimization problems,” “encryption,” and “materials calculation and simulation.” Since the end of 2023, several hardware vendors have announced their roadmaps, and since then, the development of “Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers (FTQCs),” a practical version of quantum computers, has progressed significantly, and research and development in related fields has also accelerated around the world, making 2024 a turning point.
