The Information-Technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) announced on April 1st that it has opened a “Cybersecurity Consultation Desk for Corporate Organizations.” IPA explained that ransomware attacks remain a major threat to the cybersecurity situation surrounding companies and organizations, and that in addition to traditional risks via the supply chain, there is a growing trend for attacks targeting zero-day vulnerabilities and vulnerabilities immediately after disclosure. In this situation, it is necessary to promote security measures in all corporate organizations, including small and medium-sized enterprises, and to respond appropriately when incidents occur.
IPA has previously accepted consultations from the general public and corporate organizations, but this time it has opened a new “Cybersecurity Consultation Desk for Corporate Organizations” to comprehensively accept consultations from corporate organizations, and will provide accurate support for considering the promotion of measures during peacetime and initial response measures when incidents occur. Examples of consultations that can be accepted include consultations regarding initial responses when various incidents occur, such as hearing about the events that have occurred and determining whether or not damage has occurred, guidance on effective first aid if damage has occurred, introduction to a list of specialist companies that respond to incidents, and introduction to other necessary consultations and reporting destinations.
