NEC started selling a new version of the email security “Mission Critical Mail”. It has the function of automatically archiving sent and received emails to “Box” and supports “Authenticated Received Chain (ARC)” that proves the legitimacy of the sender. Mission Critical Mail is available as an on-premise software package product “Mission Critical Mail Filter” and a cloud service “Mission Critical Mail Cloud”. It can be flexibly deployed according to the security policies and operating environments of each company or organization. It is also highly customizable to meet detailed security requirements. As an alternative to PPAP (a file delivery method in which an encrypted password-protected ZIP file is attached to an email and the decompression password is sent in a separate email), which has previously been a security concern, it has realized safe and efficient file sharing and storage by automatically storing email attachments in Box.
In this enhancement, a function has been added that automatically archives the emails themselves (body and headers) that are newly sent and received to Box. This allows users to centrally store and manage important email data along with documents for daily work, using Box’s search and access management functions under Box’s security policy. In the event of an inquiry or incident , the necessary information can be accessed quickly. In addition, companies that already use Box can expand the scope of Box’s use without having to install a separate email archiving service, which reduces costs and improves the efficiency of operations and management. When editing the message or header of an outgoing email due to security measures such as PPAP elimination through cloud storage integration, there is a risk that domain authentication such as SPF/DKIM/DMARC will fail and the email will be judged as spam even if it is legitimate.
To solve this issue, ARC is now compatible with ARC, which can take over the authentication results on the sending path and prove the legitimacy of the sender. ARC is incorporated into the recommended guidelines by domestic and international industry organizations as a standard that greatly improves the delivery rate and reliability of important emails. It is said that it has already been introduced and used on major platforms such as “Gmail” and ” Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online)”.
